Eighty-three Willie Millers there’s only eighty-three Willie Millers, there’s only …

Look who popped in to lend Metal Gallery a helping hand. Only the one and only Dons’ legend Willie Miller who took time out to sign 83 metal wall art prints of his finest hour – lifting the European Cup Winners’ Cup following Aberdeen’s historic 2-1 triumph over the mighty Real Madrid on a rain-soaked night in Gothenburg on 11 May 1983.
Willie was in fine form as he signed print after print after print. It all looked a bit surreal afterwards with 83 Willie Millers forming a sea of red and white along the Metal Gallery office, much to the delight of AFC fans. The prints of probably the most iconic image in Aberdeen’s history are all limited-edition pieces, individually numbered 1-300, with only 83 signed by the great man himself.
Signed print number 35 was donated by Metal Gallery for auction at the 35th Gothenburg anniversary dinner held at Pittodrie on 11 May this year. It was a great chance for the fans to celebrate with many of the team that created history on that never to be forgotten night.
The prints are made under licence from Aberdeen Football Club and are available from the club shop or from our own online store. In addition to Willie Miller, there are also prints of another Gothenburg legend, Neil Simpson as well as current club captain Graeme Shinne.
Made from rigid metal with the title and number cut out of the print area, the artwork is 730mm wide and 541m high and is supplied with spacers to hold it slightly away from the wall to maximise the effect of the laser cut metal as part of the print.
